Alex Whitbread, Partner at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, and Alex Sherratt, Partner at Matthew Lloyd Architects, will co-present at the forthcoming Brick Works event on Wednesday 24th October in Manchester. The evening event will provide in-depth, contemporary case studies on some of the most notable clay brick architecture in the UK’s built environment.
Alex Whitbread joined the London office of Feilen Clegg Bradley Studios in 1998, gaining his Partnership in 2007. While he works across a range of projects, his main focus is on urban design and large-scale city centre buildings. Through working in this sector, Alex has gained a wealth of experience in the education, office, cultural and residential building types that help inform the design of robust and deliverable masterplanning strategies. Alex has worked on major regeneration projects in the UK, particularly in Manchester and Leeds, and is currently undertaking a number of large-scale projects in London.
Alex Sherratt joined Matthew Lloyd Architects in 2001 and became a Partner in 2004. He is responsible for project delivery, with extensive experience of projects with complex client structures and briefs. Alex is a visiting tutor at the University of Bath and a Quinquennial Inspector for the Diocese of London, and alongside other projects is developing a conservation specialism in the practice, having been registered as a Conservation Architect with RIBA since 2014.
The focus on the night will be on New Mildmay in London. The scheme, shortlisted for an Urban Regeneration Brick Award, was fifteen years in development and has transformed a corner of Hackney with a complementary scheme of residential, social, commercial and community facilities, fully integrating the scheme in to this vibrant, characterful area.
