Nicola's engagement in the Brick Awards comes from her wide ranging interest in the built environment in pioneering designs in sustainable and robust materials, particularly brickwork which also showcase craftsmanship in our industry today with continuing potential in the future.
"In both my home and work environment, where there are an abundance of late 19th century brick buildings as well as a significant number of modern brick structures, I have not found any material as traditional and contemporary as the humble brick. Brick provides a framework or backdrop to support and complement other façade materials in many other materials, as well as acting as an all-in façade solution in itself. The uses, designs, colours, sizing, arrangements, as well as affordability bands are endless! And the physical and anti-fashion robustness unquestionably adds value to a long serving built environment in all building uses. Long live the brick!" - Nicola Kelly
