Moylinney Court, Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland, UK - pilot scheme achieving HAPPI standards (Housing our Ageing Population Panel for Innovation) comprises of 6 family homes and 14 spacious apartments with additional internal and external social spaces. Close attention was paid to designing high quality private and communal spaces throughout the design that creates areas of passive observation allowing the scheme to sit openly on the site without the appearance of a rear elevation.

Externally the concept was to finish the building with high quality durable materials. The materials were specified to create a monolithic design with pockets of private space that integrates with the communal landscape and social areas. While defining private terrace and balcony boundaries. Using Wienerberger's Con Mosso brick and a collection of other sympathetic materials, the project delivers what has now become a modern way of introducing traditional and long lasting materials into the built environment.

Internally the main entrance leads through to a hotel-like lobby area with communal lounge / kitchenette and large balcony. Each spacious open plan apartment is designed to maximise natural lighting with large dual aspect windows and private balconies.
