Carbon

Reducing carbon emissions in buildings is critical in construction. But this isn’t simply about using carbon-free materials or the embodied energy in production and delivery from ‘cradle to factory gate.’ It is about the whole environmental impact of a product from manufacture to use, maintenance and ultimate reuse or recycling.

Time and resilience hold the key to the whole life approach. This is why clay brick’s extensive longevity will prolong the expected life of a building and result in a low carbon footprint for every year of use. Couple this with the fact that clay brick can be reused and recycled, it is easy to see why it is one of the least carbon-intensive building materials available.
